Oregon, "and that's where we get our jobs"
Oh good Lord. Did Democrat gubernatorial candidate Bill Bradbury really say this?
"There's this incredible recognition in Oregon that our future is really a green future and that's where we get our jobs,"It is? Is THAT where Oregon is getting their jobs? Well that's somewhat surprising in that I did not think that Oregon was getting any jobs, but losing them.
That whole "green job" thing is working pretty well for Oregon it seems...cough cough.... Well perhaps someone should send a memo to Bill Bradbury concerning Oregon's horrific employment numbers compared to the rest of the country.
"No matter who gets elected governor," he said, "this economy is going green, period. And anybody who resists that would be real stupid, okay? The question is who can best help that transition take place."

These dolts have no clue about how the economy works. This state is absolutely certain to sink into a deep, deep depression because of these idiots.
"Anybody who resists would be real stupid, okay?"
A statewide elected official who yearns for the governor's office actually said something this idiotic? We are so screwed.
Typical leftist totalitarianism. No reason to think about whether it makes sense to bet the state's economy on businesses that need immense government subsidies in order to survive. If you disagree you are stupid.
Oregon, bye Oregon.
"Green" industries, like alternative fuels, will succeed brilliantly as long as they receive enormous government subsidies to make them competitive with the free market.
Maddie shoots...she scores!
Our state's solons are affected by a complete disregard for market fundamentals. Is there a reason why a kilowatt of energy produced by a coal-fired plant is cheaper than a kilowatt of energy produced by a solar panel? Hmm. Could it be it is because investment in coal-technology is a better investment than an investment in solar panel technology?
Stuff that works is the "wrong type" of technology. Unicorns, on the other hand, are magickal.
.
Are you Republicans crazy?
Bradbury's idea will succeed wonderfully once he also creates the "Secretary of non-competition" to assure that only green jobs are allowed.
Wake up maroons.
Anon 9:50, I think that calls for a...
"Who is John Galt?"
There is always a possiblity that certain green technologies will become financially viable.
Anyone remember the first single drawer CD players that came out in the mid 80's? They were $750, and that's when $750 was real money. ($750 in 1984 has the same buying power as $1524.13 does today).
First generation techonolgies are always far more expensive. Some of it has to do with putting money back into the company to cover the R&D costs. Some of has to do with the fact that the manufacturing process has to be started from scratch and those costs have to be recovered.
Anyway, I'm not going to poopoo the idea of alternative energies. I think, eventually, they will become cost effective and efficent.
I'm just not in favor of forcing expensive and unefficent technologies on people because "someday, maybe, possibly, they will work the way we want them too."
IF "alternate" fuels or "green" technology is going to work, it has to survive on it's merits and abilities, not thru legislation.
